Effect of distributions of fuel concentration and temperature on ignition processes in a diesel PCCI combustion

摘要: The distributions of fuel concentration and temperature have significant effect on the ignition processes of diesel premixed charge compression ignition (PCCI) combustion. It was found in this study that the ignition process of PCCI combustion organized by multi-pulse injection was strongly influenced by conditions of fuel stratification. The start of low temperature reactions occurred in the leaner area of the combustion chamber in the test engine because the temperature here first reached the point of low temperature reactions. Ignition always occurred in the position where the mixture featured with equivalence ratios close to the mean equivalence ratio of the overall mixture, while the neighboring area of the initial ignition area accumulate heat with a finite speed until finally autoigniting. Moreover, the appearance of highest combustion temperature occurred in the same area at the combustion chamber. For more homogeneous mixture, a higher amount of mixture reached ignition simultaneously, resulting in a larger initial ignition area and a higher temperature at the ignition area. Furthermore, V-type distribution of equivalence ratio was found to be beneficial to retarding high temperature reaction.

Esophageal pulse oximetry is more accurate and detects hypoxemia earlier than conventional pulse oximetry

摘要:

The esophagus is perfused directly by prominent arteries and may provide a more consistent tissue source for pulse oximetry. The goal of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity and accuracy of an esophageal pulse oximetry probe on patients during controlled hypoxemia in comparison to measurements obtained with conventional pulse oximetry (SpulseO2). Forty-five ASA I–II adult patients were included in this prospective observational study. Nellcor digital oximetric probes were placed on finger tips for SpulseO2 before anesthesia. After tracheal intubation, an esophageal probe was placed in the lower segment of the esophagus for esophageal oximetric monitoring (SoesO2). All patients were disconnected from the breathing circuit to establish a controlled hypoxemia, and were re-connected to the breathing circuit and ventilated with 100% oxygen immediately when SoesO2 dropped to 90%. Matched SoesO2 and SpulseO2 readings were recorded when SoesO2measurements were at 100%, 95%, 90% and the lowest reading. The time for SoesO2 and SpulseO2 to drop from 100% to 95%, 90% and return to 100% was recorded. Oxygen saturation from arterial blood samples (SartO2) was also measured at each time point respectively. The linear correlation coefficient of the regression analysis between SartO2 and SoesO2 was 0.954. The mean±2SD of the difference was 0.3%±4.3% for SoesO2vs. SartO2 and 6.8%±5.6% for SpulseO2vs. SartO2 (P<0.001). The 95% confidence interval for the absolute difference between SoesO2 and SartO2 was 0.3% to 0.7% and 6.2% to 7.4% between SpulseO2 and SartO2. The time to reach 90% saturation measured with SoesO2 was approximately 94 seconds earlier than the SpulseO2 (P<0.001). In conclusion, SoesO2 is more accurate and enables earlier detection of hypoxemia when compared to conventional pulse oximetry during hypoxemia for patients undergoing general anesthesia.

Hybrid genetic algorithm for bi-objective resource-constrained project scheduling

摘要: In this study, we considered a bi-objective, multi-project, multi-mode resource-constrained project scheduling problem. We adopted three objective pairs as combinations of the net present value (NPV) as a financial performance measure with one of the time-based performance measures, namely, makespan ( ), mean completion time (MCT), and mean flow time (MFT) (i.e., min /max , min /max , and min /max ). We developed a hybrid non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (hybrid-NSGA-II) as a solution method by introducing a backward–forward pass (BFP) procedure and an injection procedure into NSGA-II. The BFP was proposed for new population generation and post-processing. Then, an injection procedure was introduced to increase diversity. The BFP and injection procedures led to improved objective functional values. The injection procedure generated a significantly high number of non-dominated solutions, thereby resulting in great diversity. An extensive computational study was performed. Results showed that hybrid-NSGA-II surpassed NSGA-II in terms of the performance metrics hypervolume, maximum spread, and the number of non-dominated solutions. Solutions were obtained for the objective pairs using hybrid-NSGA-II and three different test problem sets with specific properties. Further analysis was performed by employing cash balance, which was another financial performance measure of practical importance. Several managerial insights and extensions for further research were presented.

Improvement in growth yield of single-walled carbon nanotubes with narrow chirality distribution by pulse

摘要: A pulse plasma chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique was developed for improving the growth yield of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with a narrow chirality distribution. The growth yield of the SWNTs could be improved by repetitive short duration pulse plasma CVD, while maintaining the initial narrow chirality distribution. Detailed growth dynamics is discussed based on a systematic investigation by changing the pulse parameters. The growth of SWNTs with a narrow chirality distribution could be controlled by the difference in the nucleation time required using catalysts comprising relatively small or large particles as the key factor. The nucleation can be controlled by adjusting the pulse on/off time ratio and the total processing time.

Three-dimensional numerical simulation for plastic injection-compression molding

Compared with conventional injection molding, injection-compression molding can mold optical parts with higher precision and lower flow residual stress. However, the melt flow process in a closed cavity becomes more complex because of the moving cavity boundary during compression and the nonlinear problems caused by non-Newtonian polymer melt. In this study, a 3D simulation method was developed for injection-compression molding. In this method, arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian was introduced to model the moving-boundary flow problem in the compression stage. The non-Newtonian characteristics and compressibility of the polymer melt were considered. The melt flow and pressure distribution in the cavity were investigated by using the proposed simulation method and compared with those of injection molding. Results reveal that the fountain flow effect becomes significant when the cavity thickness increases during compression. The back flow also plays an important role in the flow pattern and redistribution of cavity pressure. The discrepancy in pressures at different points along the flow path is complicated rather than monotonically decreased in injection molding.

density measurement for plastic injection molding via ultrasonic technology

摘要: Density variation during the injection molding process directly reflects the state of plastic melt and contains valuable information for process monitoring and optimization. Therefore, in-situ density measurement is of great interest and has significant application value. The existing methods, such as pressure−volume−temperature (PVT) method, have the shortages of time-delay and high cost of sensors. This study is the first to propose an in-situ density measurement method using ultrasonic technology. The analyses of the time-domain and frequency-domain signals are combined in the proposed method. The ultrasonic velocity is obtained from the time-domain signals, and the acoustic impedance is computed through a full-spectral analysis of the frequency-domain signals. Experiments with different process conditions are conducted, including different melt temperature, injection speed, material, and mold structure. Results show that the proposed method has good agreement with the PVT method. The proposed method has the advantages of in-situ measurement, non-destructive, high accuracy, low cost, and is of great application value for the injection molding industry.

A modified pulse charging method for lithium-ion batteries by considering stress evolution, charging

摘要: The stress evolution, total charging time and capacity utilization of pulse charging (PC) method are investigated in this paper. It is found that compared to the conventional constant current (CC) charging method, the PC method can accelerate the charging process but will inevitably cause an increase in stress and a decrease in capacity. The charging speed for PC method can be estimated by the mean current. By introducing stress control, a modified PC method called the PCCC method, which starts with a PC operation followed by a CC operation, is proposed. The PCCC method not only can accelerate charging process but also can avoid the stress raising and capacity loss occurring in the PC method. Furthermore, the optimal pulsed current density and switch time in the PCCC method is also discussed.

液态凝析油是凝析气藏的重要产品,它的开采应该是有效而经济的。介绍了国外近20 a来在凝析气藏开采技术领域的各种经济模式,包括回注φd=75%干气、自流回注、注N2、注水、水气交替注和注CO2等开采模式。研究结果表明,这些开采模式同传统的降压开采方法相比,能够有效地适应地面-地下的各种复杂情况。

混合多端直流输电系统保护方法研究 Article

摘要:

近年来,混合多端直流输电系统快速发展。但是,在混合直流系统中应用的电压源换流器(voltage-source converter, VSC)出口不再需要直流滤波器。此外,考虑到其直流故障电流可被换流器自身有效抑制,直流线路两端也不再需要安装限流电抗器。这意味着线路两端边界缺失,导致应用于常规高压直流输电(line commutated converter based high-voltage direct current, LCC-HVDC)系统和柔性直流(VSC-HVDC)电网的单端量保护均无法适用于混合多端直流输电系统。为此,本文提出了一种适用于混合多端直流输电系统的单端量保护新原理,该方法主要基于暂态信息和主动注入思想实现故障辨识。与应用于LCCHVDC和VSC-HVDC系统的单端量保护相比,所提方法无需依赖线路两端的边界元件,因此更加适用于混合多端直流系统。大量的仿真算例充分验证了所提方法的可行性和优越性。

Trend prediction technology of condition maintenance for large water injection units

摘要: Trend prediction technology is the key technology to achieve condition-based maintenance of mechanical equipment. Large-sized water injection units are key equipment in oilfields. The traditional preventive maintenance is not economical and cannot completely avoid vicious accidents. To ensure the normal operation of units and save maintenance costs, trend prediction technology is studied to achieve condition-based maintenance for water injection units. The main methods of the technology are given, the trend prediction method based on neural network is put forward, and the expert system based on the knowledge is developed. The industrial site verification shows that the proposed trend prediction technology can reflect the operating condition trend change of the water injection units and provide technical means to achieve condition-based predictive maintenance.

High frequency group pulse electrochemical machining

摘要: In the process of machining ultrathin metal structure parts, the signal composition of high frequency group pulse, the influence of frequency to reverse current, and the design of the cathode in high frequency group pulse electrochemical machining (HGPECM) are discussed. The experiments on process were carried out. Results indicate that HGPECM can greatly improve the characteristics of the inter-electrode gap flow field, reduce electrode passivation, and obtain high machining quality. The machining quality is obviously improved by increasing the main pulse frequency. The dimensional accuracy reaches 30 40 ?m and the roughness attained is at 0.30 0.35 ?m. High frequency group pulse electrochemical machining can be successfully used in machining micro-parts.

Performance-based seismic assessment of a historical masonry arch bridge: Effect of pulse-like excitations

摘要: Seismic analysis of historical masonry bridges is important for authorities in all countries hosting such cultural heritage assets. The masonry arch bridge investigated in this study was built during the Roman period and is on the island of Rhodes, in Greece. Fifteen seismic records were considered and categorized as far-field, pulse-like near-field, and non-pulse-like near-field. The earthquake excitations were scaled to a target spectrum, and nonlinear time-history analyses were performed in the transverse direction. The performance levels were introduced based on the pushover curve, and the post-earthquake damage state of the bridge was examined. According to the results, pulse-like near-field events are more damaging than non-pulse-like near-field ground motions. Additionally the bridge is more vulnerable to far-field excitations than near-field events. Furthermore, the structure will suffer extensive post-earthquake damage and must be retrofitted.

Intelligent methods for the process parameter determination of plastic injection molding

摘要:

Injection molding is one of the most widely used material processing methods in producing plastic products with complex geometries and high precision. The determination of process parameters is important in obtaining qualified products and maintaining product quality. This article reviews the recent studies and developments of the intelligent methods applied in the process parameter determination of injection molding. These intelligent methods are classified into three categories: Case-based reasoning methods, expert system-based methods, and data fitting and optimization methods. A framework of process parameter determination is proposed after comprehensive discussions. Finally, the conclusions and future research topics are discussed.

A driving pulse edge modulation technique and its complex programming logic devices implementation

摘要: With the continual increase in switching speed and rating of power semiconductors, the switching voltage spike becomes a serious problem. This paper describes a new technique of driving pulse edge modulation for insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs). By modulating the density and width of the pulse trains, without regulating the hardware circuit, the slope of the gate driving voltage is controlled to change the switching speed. This technique is used in the driving circuit based on complex programmable logic devices (CPLDs), and the switching voltage spike of IGBTs can be restrained through software, which is easier and more flexible to adjust. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed method.
